The Fire Marshal’s office works as part of the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office to investigate fires for origin and cause. Investigators from the Fire Marshal’s Office are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to respond to fires when they occur throughout unincorporated Whatcom County.
How do I get a copy of my fire investigation report?
Fire reports are obtained through the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office records department by calling (360) 676-6652 and giving them your case number. If you are not sure of your case number you can contact your investigator at (360) 676-6907. Fire reports are normally not available until at least one week after the fire.

If you have information on an arson you can e-mail our investigators at firemarshal@co.whatcom.wa.us or you can call the tip line at 1-800-55-ARSON. Rewards may be available for information that leads to the conviction of an arsonist.
